But, don’t let the weather get to you, spend some time planning out what you’re going to be growing in the spring and throughout the summer months and you’ll be set to blast out the gates when the weather begins to fair.

December has arrived and the last time I look it said -1 degrees on the thermometer. All the beds are to rest and the water has been shut off. We hope you have a wonderful Holiday season and you take the time to reflect on all that you grew this year.

The first frosts have arrived at the Oak & 41st garden and we have shut off the water. Be sure to put any dead or dying plants into the greens waste bin and line your beds with the fallen leaves to give them some mulch for the winter.

Fall is officially here and sure feels like it. The mornings have been cool and crisp, the leaves are changing colour and the sun is sitting much lower in the sky. Make sure you prepare your beds for winter by harvesting the last of your summer veg, pulling up any dead plants and putting your bed to rest if you’re not planning on growing through the winter.

September brings with it the beginning signs of fall and that means it’s time to get your cool weather varieties of vegetables in the ground. Planting out your fall garden will allow you to continue harvesting through the fall and growing through the winter.
