Hello Pender Gardeners,
With a mix of sun and rain - May is a great month to get most seeds and plant starts in the ground.
Here are a few notes:
WATERING SYSTEM
The watering system will get increasing use as things heat up. Please help us keep the system intact by handling the hoses with care and turning the water OFF before you leave the garden.Let us know by email or phone call if there are any issues.
GREEN WASTE
Many folks have started pulling up last years growth - while getting rid of any plant matter - please help us out by doing a thorough job of shaking dirt off of the roots before transferring anything to the Green Waste bins. Soil in the green waste bins becomes a huge headache for us and there has been a lot of soil in there lately. We really appreciate your help with this.
GARDEN PESTS
We have received some concerned emails regarding plants being continuously plucked out of peoples garden beds. Some had understandably suggested that it was due to some 'unwanted human visitors' to the garden. We have contacted the landowner to see if any added measures can be taken to keep campers out. After this and according to our research, it seems that plants are actually being stolen by CROWS! Yes, crows! Here is a link that has some ideas for how to keep crows away from your garden bed.
Enjoy everything that May has in store for our garden,
Happy sunshine!
