HASTINGS NORTH TEMPORARY COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Hastings North Temporary Community Garden was a temporary growing space in the Hastings/Sunrise (East Village) community of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Built in 2013, the garden had 206 community garden beds, seating, fruit trees, garden art and a mailbox! This allotment garden was for community members to grow food and flowers.
The garden was decommissioned after 5 successful growing seasons in late 2017. The garden was removed and the project was completed with the construction of high-density residential housing. The project journey was successful: vacant lot > temporary garden > housing.
